Let us begin grilling then!

What are Grilled Baked Shrimps?

The Grilled Baked Shrimps are shrimp drenched in garlic butter, seasoned with your favorite rub, and served with a squeeze of charred lemon. It is simple yet so flavorful because of the authentic flavor of shrimp cooked in the smoky charcoal and wood chips along with garlic butter. Another main ingredient that helps in seasoning and flavoring the dish to perfection is the bacon. The bacon brings out the saltiness in the shrimp.

When the shrimps are nice and pink, you know they have that delicious buttery texture and chew. By adding butter for the baking, you are more likely to start with poaching the shrimps until most of the butter is penetrated through the shrimp, making them buttery and so juicy.

We also love this dish because of the simple choice of ingredients. It literally takes one dish to cook, and you can always add your flair to please your taste buds. But once you try it, you will know the dish is perfect and needs no adjustment other than salt and pepper.

A Few Cooking Pointers

Here are a few cooking pointers that will help you make the Grilled Baked Shrimps to the perfection every time:

  • Make sure that your grill is 450 F.
  • Free feel to use charcoal, wood chips, apple, or oaks chips, whatever you like and love. The smokiness brings out the flavor, so your choice is important.
  • Char-grill the lemon as you grill-baked the shrimps. This helps in giving the dish aromas of lemon. And you do not have to grill them separately for garnish and serving.
  • Always top the dish with breadcrumbs, even if the shrimps are almost done. If you add the breadcrumbs from the start, they will brown faster.
  • Serve the shrimp bake as soon as possible for two reasons. The fresh from the oven will have that intense lemon aroma, and the second is that the breadcrumbs might get soggy due to the butter.
  • Feel free to use maple glazed bacon over the shrimps. It will bring out the saltiness and a delicious hint of smokiness and sweetness in the entire dish.

Serving Ideas

We love to eat this baked-over bread. It might sound strange, but just scoop out the shrimp, bacon, and the delicious garlic butter juices over the piece of bread and eat it, indeed a pure bliss!

Following are a few servings ideas that will help you enjoy this dish to the fullest:

  • Over plain seasoned pasta: The garlic butter will dress the pasta, and shrimps and bacon are the perfect toppings over the dish. You might need to have sides of vegetables to make it a complete course.
  • With Grilled Vegetables: Yes, it is a simple pairing, but the crunch from grilled vegetables complements the succulent shrimps and buttery garlic sauce so well.
  • Over-fried rice: It is a wild entry but believe us, it is so good and will leave you so full yet craving for more.
  • Over good old mashed potatoes or potato salad: These are simple sides that you will find on every BBQ table. No doubt these grilled, baked shrimps will complement these so well.

Can I make the Grilled Baked Shrimp ahead of time?

We will suggest you compile the baking tray ahead of time. You can mix the shrimp with garlic, herb butter, and seasoning. Keep it refrigerated for 4 hours before grilling. Just add bacon when you are ready to grill. It is a great idea to prepare the baking dish ahead of time when feeding a large crowd or bringing them to a family or friends’ party.
